DP World Paramaribo & COSCO Shipping Lines renovates OS lobatoschool

DP World Paramaribo and COSCO Shipping Lines Suriname have joined forces to renovate the media library of OS Lobatoschool, an elementary school near the Jules Sedney Terminal in Paramaribo. This initiative, completed on October 24th, is part of DP World’s Global Education Program and reflects both companies’ commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. This project was also executed with employees from both companies who volunteered to paint and furnish the library to make it ready for the handover ceremony. 

During the handover ceremony, DP World Paramaribo’s CEO, Mrs. Mervel Kotzebue-Fleur, highlighted the critical role of quality education in shaping the future of global trade. In her speech, she inspired students to aim high and contribute meaningfully to Suriname’s economic development.

To further engage the students, DP World Paramaribo’s and COSCO Shipping Lines sustainability champions conducted an interactive session to raise awareness about the SDGs through hands-on activities, emphasizing their relevance in daily life. After these sessions the students that stood out received a package with basis elementary needs and the remaining students also received some DP World branded merchandise which they could use during their educational journey. Through this partnership both maritime companies will remain committed to this elementary school to ensure that the environment in which our future leaders are educated is provided with the basic education needs.

Both companies remain dedicated to supporting OS Lobatoschool and ensuring its students have access to the resources they need for success.
