Date: 14/03/2025

The agreement will begin in April, with six services and eight weekly calls, with potential to grow to seven services and 10 calls starting from the second year of the contract

DP World, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, has entered into a strategic agreement with Maersk, one of the world’s leading companies in maritime transport and logistics, to operate a substantial volume of services at its terminal located in Port of Santos, Brazil. The commercial agreement will bring mutual benefits: DP World will expand its capacity and volumes, while Maersk ensures long-term service capacity, with an agreed minimum service level.

The agreement outlines a long-term partnership, with the implementation of six services and eight weekly calls, with plans to grow to seven services and 10 weekly calls starting from the second year, after the first phase of capacity expansion to be carried out by DP World, when the terminal will reach an annual volume of 1.7 million TEUs.

Márcio Medina, Commercial Vice President at DP World in Brazil, said: “This announcement is another strategic step for DP World in Brazil, reinforcing our presence at the Port of Santos, and opening the way for new expansion opportunities in the country. This agreement with Maersk not only allows us to expand our operational capacity for container handling but also ensures a robust and sustainable long-term service.”

Paulo Ruy, Regional Head of Terminal & Port Procurement for Latin America at Maersk, said: “This agreement with DP World secures service capacity for Maersk at the Port of Santos. It aligns with our strategy to ensure reliable and efficient operations for our customers in the region. By having this commercial agreement with DP World, we are able to meet the growing demand for container handling and enhance our service offerings, ensuring that we continue to provide end to end logistics solutions, in addition to our stand-alone products.”

Continuous business expansion

Currently, DP World has an ongoing investment plan of approximately R$ 450 million to expand container handling capacity to 1.7 million TEUs per year by 2026. The company is also in the final stages of approval for an additional investment of R$ 1.6 billion to increase capacity to 2.1 million TEUs per year by the end of 2027.
