DP World San Antonio begins unloading 19 wind turbines for Torsa wind farm

DP World San Antonio began this Tuesday, from the Chipol Yongan motor ship, the first of four unloadings that will total 19 Nordex wind turbines for the Torsa wind farm -of the Norwegian state-owned company Statkraft, of 102 MW-, in the O'Higgins Region and 124 kilometers south of Santiago.

In the coming weeks, the other three ships will arrive to complete the 19 renewable energy teams.

According to what was reported in a statement by DP World San Antonio, the wind turbines have a 163-meter-diameter rotor, which covers an area equivalent to almost three soccer fields, and sections of towers with weights of up to 98 tons.

In the letter, the general manager of the Chilean port operator, Juan Alberto Arancibia, explained that "this new unloading of wind turbines confirms our status as the largest multipurpose terminal in the central zone of Chile, with highly qualified personnel, state-of-the-art technology and high standards of safety for people and cargo.

Along these lines, he added that they are "one of the main reliable, safe and efficient logistics players on the South Pacific coast, with a clear commitment to energy efficiency, footprint reduction and renewable energy."

The company highlighted that DP World Chile obtained the first renewable energy certification for a port operator in South America, allowing it to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations and all import and export cargoes of its clients. The environmental milestone is part of the logistics operator's strategy to become carbon neutral by 2050.
