East Coast Expansion
Addition of Saint John (New Brunswick) multi-purpose marine terminal to the Canadian Ports & Terminals portfolio.
DP World Acquires Fraser Surrey Docks
In February 2020, DP World acquired Fraser Surrey Docks terminal – the largest multi-purpose deep-sea marine terminal on the West Coast of North America. This acquisition will provide customers with enhanced bulk, breakbulk and general cargo services.
Prince Rupert Expansion
With the completion of the Fairview Container Terminal Phase 2 North Expansion, the terminal capacity was increased from 750,000 to 1.35 million TEUs – making it able to handle the largest container vessels.
Canadian Expansion
In August 2015, DP World acquired Maher Terminal's Fairview Container Terminal (Fairview) in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, expanding its presence in the Canadian market.
DP World Acquisition
In March 2006, DP World acquired P&O Ports and became one of the top marine terminal operators in the world.
Global Port Operator
In 2005, Dubai Ports acquired CSX World Terminals, a leading global container terminal operator.
P&O Ports Acquisition
In February 2003, P&O Ports acquired Canadian Stevedoring and Casco Terminals to form P&O Ports Canada Inc.
Regional Port Operator
In 1999, Dubai Ports International FZE was formed to manage and operate container terminals and other facilities outside the UAE.
BCR Group Acquisition
In 1998, the BCR Group of Companies purchased Canadian Stevedoring & Casco Terminals.
Creation of Dubai Port Authority
In 1991, the operations of Port Rashid and Jebel Ali port were combined to create the Dubai Ports Authority.
A retirement, a new president
Brian W. Mitchell, John Mitchell’s son, takes over as president.
Local UAE Port Operator
We evolved from serving local trade in Dubai (UAE) starting with the development of Port Rashid in 1972, followed in March 1979, with the opening of Jebel Ali port.
Creation of Casco Terminals
Subsidiary Casco Terminals is established and becomes the terminal operator of Centennial Pier (Centerm), DP World Vancouver’s current site. Casco builds a first-class reputation for handling containerized cargo, export pulp, and various breakbulk commodities.
Acquisitions
Canadian Stevedoring acquires Louis Wolfe & Sons (Vancouver) in 1966.
Terminal Dock Operations
Between 1946 and 1963, Canadian Stevedoring operates four berths at the Terminal Dock under contract to Robin Hood Flour.
DP World Vancouver Stevedoring Division Funded
Canadian Stevedoring Limited was founded with the mission of serving BC’s marine industry. These origins make it the oldest Canadian-owned stevedoring company still in existence today.
