Our Approach to Sustainability
Enabling smarter trade to create a better future for everyone
Go-Green project
On March 21st each year, countries from across the globe celebrate International Day of Forests, which was established by the United Nations (UN).
DP World in Djazair and millions of people all over the world have used it as an opportunity to celebrate all types of forests and trees while recognising their importance and taking action to protect them.
As part of DP World’s “GO GREEN” program and in collaboration with the HSE team and key stakeholders, we held a tree plantation drive to ring in the special day. The celebration involved planting nearly 100 trees in the landscapes around the administration buildings and along the pedestrian walkways inside our terminal. In addition, we also planted 3,000 trees in extremely dry areas including Ouled Djellal District & Doucen at 408 Km from Algiers the capital.
Trees and forests do so much for people and our environment. Cleaning the air we breathe, filtering the water we drink and providing shade against UV rays are just the start of their benefits. Furthermore, trees can create a sustainable income, provide nutritious food and improve our health – they can even reduce stress!
It is important that we appreciate trees and forests around us through making the most of opportunities to protect and nourish them, as we all aim to reduce our environmental footprint.
