DP WORLD DOMINICANA WINS AAPA-CIP PORT INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE AWARD 2023

This prestigious award recognizes the logistics solutions company for excellence in its operations and its economic and social contributions to the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo,- In recognition of its operational excellence and important contributions to the local community, DP World Dominicana, a logistics solutions company, has been awarded the AAPA-CIP 2023 Port Industry Excellence Award in the "Port Infrastructure Development" category.

The recognition, granted by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Latin American Delegation of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), highlights the role of the organization, which in recent years has undergone a process of expansion of its port infrastructure in the Dominican Republic, resulting in positive socioeconomic impacts on the community where it operates.

This award responds to our vision of investing in infrastructure to improve our services so that we can optimize the end-to-end supply chain. It exemplifies our continued commitment to offer sustainable and efficient solutions to our customers, consolidating our role as a driving force in the region," said Morten Johansen, Executive Vice President of DP World Americas and CEO of DP World Dominicana.

In this regard, Johansen highlighted the actions implemented by DP World Dominicana in recent years in favor of the port sector and the socioeconomic development of the country. "To date, we have invested more than US$700 million in our port terminal, DP World Ports and Terminals, as well as in the logistics ecosystem. As a result of the expansion process, our operating capacity increased from 1.4 million to 2.5 million TEUs per year," he said.

He also pointed out that, given the current conditions of its facilities on the Caucedo Peninsula, they have become one of the main connection bridges for the Americas and the Caribbean region, since DP World Ports and Terminals handles 68% of the maritime cargo entering and leaving the Dominican Republic.

Morten Johansen concluded his remarks by reiterating that for DP World Dominicana it is essential to leave a positive legacy not only in the logistics and port sector, but also in the communities in its area of influence, which is why in the last three years they have allocated more than 60 million pesos in sustainable development projects with an impact on Boca Chica, the municipality that serves as a base for its operations.

Jean Luis Rodríguez, executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), congratulated DP World Dominicana for this recognition, which he said is the result of the company's tireless dedication and commitment to integral port development."DP World Dominicana has demonstrated an exceptional focus on the continuous improvement of its operations, and its contribution to the socioeconomic prosperity of the region is truly admirable.
